A special prize in the Inter Hall of Fame to be decided by $INTER fan - token holders

Each edition of the Inter Hall of Fame sees a special prize awarded in recognition of an individual or institution who has left a mark on the FC Internazionale Milano’s history in sporting terms and also by integrating social initiatives that go beyond supporting the team.

In the first edition of the Hall of Fame, the special award went to the Moratti family for all the years of service towards the Nerazzurri cause, including an impressive haul of trophies that took the club to the top of the world in two different eras. Former Inter goalkeeper Astutillo Malgioglio on the second award thanks to his work with BUU (Brothers Universally United) to promote the most vulnerable, weak and marginalised. Ernesto Pellegrini came out on top in the 2020 edition, having been the club president during the record-breaking Scudetto-winning campaign and with his foundation offering hot meals to hundreds of people in difficult circumstances on a daily basis.

The special award in the 2021 Hall of Fame will be chosen by Inter fans for the first time through a poll on Socios.com, the club’s Global Main Partner, as $INTER fan-token holders will get to decide between four strong candidates for this prestigious award.

The poll will run between 21 and 27 February and the winner of the special award will be announced at the same time as the players entering the 2021 Inter Hall of Fame ahead of Inter’s meeting with Salernitana at San Siro on 4 March. Three players (Gianluca Pagliuca, Marco Materazzi and Wesley Sneijder) have already been announced, with the fourth one still to come.

There are four candidates, encompassing historic individuals, institutions and special fans. They are Peppino Prisco, a legendary lawyer and Inter director, the Policlinico of Milan, for the hospital’s efforts in the Covid-19 pandemic, Claudio Bertazzi, the president of Inter Club Desenzano del Garda, and Enzo Bernasconi, Inter Club Tri Basei member.

Peppino Prisco Last December, Inter celebrated 100 years since the birth of Peppino Prisco and the twentieth anniversary of his passing. Prisco was part of a century of Nerazzurri history, earning a reputation as “the greatest Inter fan of all time”. A member of the Alpini (second lieutenant) in Russia, a knowledgeable lawyer, vice-president and, above all, a supporter, Prisco was loved by Interisti and opposition fans alike for his endearing personality, jokes and constant smile. He was described as “always and only at the service of Inter”.

Policlinico of Milan For the key role that the hospital has played in the battle against Covid-19 in the city of Milan. The battle began in the early days of the pandemic, culminating in managing the vaccination hubs, including the one in Palazzo delle Scintille, the biggest in Italy, and the one in Fiera-Portello, with a big focus on children. In total, the hospital coordinated the administering of over 2 million vaccine doses in Italy. That is joined by the creation and management of the Padiglione del Policlinico in Fiera, the biggest intensive care unit in Europe for the patients with the most serious cases of Covid-19. In 2021, despite the ongoing pandemic, almost 6,000 babies were born there, as it developed a reputation as a hub for mothers affected by Covid-19 all over Milan. This all took place without the hospital interrupting its regular activities of assistance, healthcare and research.

Claudio Bertazzi, president of Inter Club Desenzano del Garda Without any viable alternative, Claudio Bertazzi has been the president of Inter Club Desenzano del Garda for 40 years. His story embodies the tight connection between personal life, footballing passion and commitment to the club and developing social initiatives in line with the principles of inclusion and promoting Inter fans domestically.

Enzo Bernasconi, Inter Club Tri Basei member In 2020, Inter Club Tri Basei member Enzo Bernasconi combined his passion for Inter and social impact into a unique undertaking. He cycled for 1,277 kilometres between San Siro and Terranova da Sibari in Calabria, the hometown of Salvatore and Caterina, Diego Milito’s grandparents, who later emigrated to Argentina. The trip across Italy aimed not only to physically connect the key places for the forward that fired Inter to European glory, but also to raise funds to support Inter Campus Bolivia and the Casari Committee, which has been working to help children in Cochabamba for many years. It is a sporting initiative that oozes solidarity in a bid to link Milan with the rest of the world, from Italy to South America.
