MILAN – Inter Academy continues its bid to expand with the opening of a new base in the United States: Inter Academy MetroWest Boston.
The new technical project stems from the partnership with South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC), an organisation set up with the aim of contributing to the wellbeing of local individuals and families by promoting education through activities that can boost their development. In tandem with the partner’s mission and the values that always underpin Inter Academy, the club’s commercial project in Boston is also set to include some study grants for the first time.
“The birth of a new Inter Academy in Boston is a big step forward for the development of the club’s project all over the world, particularly in the USA, which is a country of strategic importance,” stated FC Internazionale Milano CEO Corporate Alessandro Antonello. “We’re very pleased to be able to further consolidate the Inter brand’s position overseas and especially to do so alongside a partner such as SMOC, which shares the values of inclusion and equality that Inter champion.”
“SMOC is excited to work with Inter, an elite football club with a wealth of experience in developing youth academies the world over,” explained Susan Gentili, the president and CEO of SMOC. “We can’t wait to offer children and young people in our community a football coaching experience with Inter coaches. This programme offers a significant opportunity to teach key lessons to our children, who will learn how to pursue their own targets, as well as about patience, commitment, leadership and teamwork. We’re sure that this project will have a positive impact on the lives of children and young people in the MetroWest community over the coming years.”
The project is set to get under way in February and will involve up to 400 children under the supervision of Inter Academy staff, who will keep close tabs on the project in terms of training up local coaches and young athletes.
