MILAN – Milan Skriniar was full of praise for fellow defender Alessandro Bastoni after the pair of them bagged the goals in Inter's 2-1 win over Lazio on Sunday. Bastoni notched the first then set up Skriniar for what proved to be the winner – with a 13th headed goal for the Nerazzurri this season.
“It's always nice to score,” the Slovakian admitted in his post-match interview with DAZN. “I'm happy with the goal and the win – and I'm also happy because my mate Gerry gave me a great assist. Gerry is Bastoni of course. We call him that because he looks like a giraffe!
"I celebrated with a knee slide and think I took a few layers of skin off... The goal came about because when [Alexis] Sanchez is on the ball we always expect him to come up with something. This time he picked out Bastoni on the left.
"We'll enjoy this win. We've been working hard and well since the holidays. We didn't play against Bologna so we had more time to train.
“Tomorrow we'll switch our focus to the Super Cup. It's going to be very tough but we want a trophy – for ourselves and for the fans. Obviously it's a special match; they always are against Juventus. We'll make sure we're ready for it.
“We heard that Federico Chiesa is injured and we send him our best wishes.”
