Inter to face Liverpool in the Champions League
Team
— Dec 13th 2021After the earlier voided draw Inter will now face Liverpool, playing the first leg at San Siro
Inter will face Liverpool in the Champions League last 16. This was the outcome of the second draw in Nyon after the first at midday had been voided owing to technical problems with UEFA's software (detailed explanation here).
Having initially been drawn against Ajax the Nerazzurri will now face Liverpool. It will be a repeat of the 2007/08 season when both sides met at the same stage of the competition. The teams have faced each other on four previous occasions, in the semi-finals in 1965 when the Nerazzurri staged a stunning comeback, and the last-16 tie in 2008 when the Reds prevailed.
Inter will be at home for the first leg at San Siro at 21:00 CET on Wednesday 16 February 2022, with the return leg at the same time at Anfield on Tuesday 8 March 2022.
The draw for the Champions League quarters, semis and final is set to take place on Friday 18 March.
The Champions League final will be in Saint Petersburg on 28 May 2022.

ABOLITION OF AWAY GOALS RULE
The away goals rule has been scrapped as of the 2021/22 season, so any ties that are level after 180 minutes will go to extra time, regardless of the number of away goals scored by each team. If the scoreline remains level after extra time, a penalty shootout will take place.
