Inter stormed to victory at the Stadio Olimpico over Jose Mourinho’s Roma thanks to a blistering first-half display. The visitors took the lead in the 15th minute when Hakan Calhanoglu scored directly from a corner to get the better of Rui Patricio. A relentless Inter doubled their lead nine minutes later when a flowing 20-pass move culminated in Calhanoglu turning provider to set up Edin Dzeko to score against his former club. Denzel Dumfries made a crucial block to prevent the hosts from getting back into the contest before all but putting the game to bed two minutes later when he headed home Alessandro Bastoni’s cross.
The second half was less eventful, with Joaquin Correa going off with a muscle injury, while Nicolo Zaniolo went close to a consolation goal for Roma with 81 minutes on the clock.
Inter managed to hold out for the clean sheet and moved up to 37 points in the Serie A table.
