The Nerazzurri have scored in each of their last 24 games, finding the net 18 times in the first five matches of the season

Inter’s 3-1 win away at Fiorentina on Tuesday night continued the Nerazzurri’s fine start to the season, with Simone Inzaghi’s side now on 13 points after five games. Matteo Darmian, Edin Dzeko and Ivan Perisic provided the goals in Florence on Tuesday night, with all three coming in the second half to turn around the half-time deficit.

The victory was Inter’s 1500th in Serie A (including walkover wins), coming 91 years, 11 months and 15 days after the first-ever win in the competition (over Livorno back in October 1929).

GOALS IN A RECORD-EQUALLING 24 CONSECUTIVE GAMES

Inter haven’t failed to score in Serie A since January 2021, when they drew 0-0 with Udinese. Since then, the Nerazzurri have found the net in 24 consecutive games in Serie A, including 19 in the 2020/21 season and five in the 2021/22 campaign. It means this Inter side have equalled our best-ever scoring run in Serie A – we made it to 24 in the 1949/50 season, when we were managed by Giulio Cappelli.

18 GOALS IN FIVE GAMES, WITH 11 DIFFERENT SCORERS

The three goals scored by Simone Inzaghi’s men in Florence mean that the Nerazzurri have equalled their best-ever scoring start to a Serie A season. Inter had 18 goals by this stage of the 1960/61 campaign too – but they’ve never gone better than that.

Inter kicked things off with four goals against Genoa, adding three against Verona and two against Sampdoria. Then came the six-goal demolition of Bologna, followed by the three scored against Fiorentina on Tuesday night.

Inter have had 11 different goalscorers already this season, with Ivan Perisic and Matteo Darmian both scoring their first of the season against Fiorentina.

Below is a list of all the players who have scored this season, with Edin Dzeko leading the way with four goals.

Dzeko 4 Lautaro 3 Correa 2 Skriniar 2 Barella 1 Vidal 1 Vecino 1 Perisic 1 Darmian 1 Calhanoglu 1 Dimarco 1

Dzeko hasn’t scored four goals in his first five games of the season since the 2017/18 campaign, when he made it to six.

DID YOU KNOW?

Hakan Calhanoglu has had more goal involvements against Fiorentina than any other team in Serie A (eight, including four goals and four assists).

Ivan Perisic has scored five goals against Fiorentina in Serie A, more than any other team except for Chievo Verona (7).

By assisting Matteo Darmian at the Franchi, Nicolo Barella is now the first Inter player to have at least one goal involvement in each of his first five appearances of the Serie A season since Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who extended the run to seven games in the 2007/08 season. Only Paul Pogba (7) has got more assists than Barella (4) in Europe’s top five leagues in the 2021/22 season.
