MILAN – His eyes were glistening, he was being hugged by his teammates and patted on the back, tears were almost falling down his face. Andrea Pinamonti and Inter: a story that can be traced back to the childhood of this Italian youngster who was born in Cles in 1999. From the Elite Academy to his debut on 8 December 2016, when he featured in the Europa League against Sparta Praha at the age of 17. He made five appearances in two seasons; then, he went to play for Frosinone and Genoa before returning home. And today, on his eighth appearance in an Inter shirt, he scored his first goal for the Club. It was a lovely finish too and the team’s fourth of the game against Sampdoria.
A memorable moment which he described following today’s match: “It’s incredible, it’s an obvious thing to say but this really is the case. It’s already amazing enough to have won the Scudetto, but getting on the scoresheet crowns a fantastic year. There are so many champions and leaders in this fantastic group. I think this is the year where I’ve grown the most, despite the fact I’ve played fewer games. This is due to the fact that I’ve been alongside these champions. It really has been a wonderful year.”
He also commented on his embrace with Skriniar: “Before coming on, I’d told him that I had a feeling I’d score, and he promised me he’d give me a special hug.”
