The facts and figures you need to know following the Nerazzurri's victory away to Torino

Not all wins are the same. Inter had to dig in in Turin and managed to find a winner in the closing stages following a complicated match. In doing so, the Nerazzurri recorded their eighth consecutive league victory for the second time this season. Indeed, they previously achieved this feat between 22 November (when they got the better of Torino at San Siro) and 3 January (a 6-2 success against Crotone).

Lukaku and Lautaro scored the Nerazzurri’s goals yesterday afternoon: together, 32 of Inter’s 65 points in the league can be attributed to the Belgian and the Argentine. Prior to the match at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, Conte’s men hadn’t secured victory in the closing stages of a match since Cagliari 1-3 Inter (D’Ambrosio and Lukaku with goals in the 84th minute and stoppage time respectively).

LAUTARO IN TOP FORM

He won the penalty for Inter’s first, while he then found the net to seal the win. In scoring the Nerazzurri’s second, Lautaro Martinez equalled his tally from last season (14 goals in 35 appearances) in 27 appearances this campaign. El Toro has become accustomed to netting against the Granata: he’s scored in each of his last four Serie A matches when Inter and Torino have met (against no other side has he found the net in more matches in the Italian top flight).

The winning goal was an extraordinary header. Lautaro has set a personal record in terms of the number of headed goals he’s scored in a single Serie A season (four).

LUKAKU'S PERFECT RECORD

Despite the difficult nature of the match, Romelu Lukaku still left his mark. The Belgian scored his 25th goal of the season in all competitions and 19th in the league. Five of these 19 goals have come from the penalty spot. Since becoming an Inter player, Lukaku has converted all of the 14 spot-kicks he’s taken and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way on 13 occasions. The only exception was in the 2020 Europa League final.
