MILAN - Romelu Lukaku is in a bit of a hurry. The Belgian striker scored after 28 seconds against Benevento at the start of the season. Against Genoa, Lukaku opened the scoring after 32 seconds with a right-footed effort across the goal. That was his 18th goal in the league this season, his 24th in all competitions. However, the Belgian’s performance was about more than just the goal; he assisted Darmian for Inter’s second had in Sanchez’s goal for 3-0.
The Nerazzurri’s number 9 had a brilliant all-round game and spoke to Sky Sport after the match: “We’re growing. We’re top of the league, which is a great feeling. But we need to keep going and not let up because we sometimes messed up in these games last year. I’m happy with the win but we need to focus on the away trip to Parma because it won’t be easy for us. These games will be useful to send a clear signal but there’s a long way to go and we need to take it game by game.”
“Today’s game was an important test to gauge our level. We put in a good performance and didn’t concede. My mentality is to always try to improve, but the same goes for a lot of guys in the squad. We’re young and we know we still have room to grow; we’re working towards that.”
“Whether I look at the goalscoring charts? No, I just think about winning; I’m going through a good period in my career but the important thing is Inter. What’s important to me is this Club; I’m really happy to be here.”
