MILAN – Whether it’s a long crossfield ball to find the right man to score or quickfire touches as part of a move to unlock the path to goal, there’s an array of stunning assists to soak up. In the 2021/22 season, two Inter players top the assist charts, with Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu on seven each. The figures build on those from the previous campaign which culminated in the club lifting the Scudetto for the 19th time.
In 2021, Inter scored more Serie A goals than any other side, with 104 from 253 efforts on goal. The stats show that the team attacks at regular intervals and exudes quality in the process. There were goals that seemingly could only be scored on video games, such as Edin Dzeko’s shot against Roma which finished off a 20-pass move, as well as spectacular goals and assists, such as Lautaro Martinez’s backheel to set up Roberto Gagliardini against Spezia and Barella’s kick-ups and volley to find Alexis Sanchez against Cagliari.
The video brings together Inter’s ten best assists of 2021, which also include Joaquin Correa’s penetrating run to play in Lautaro against Napoli, Sanchez’s delicate flick for Danilo D’Ambrosio in the clash with Empoli and Alessandro Bastoni’s stunning ball to Barella in the home meeting with Juventus last season.
