SALERNO – Another win and another clean sheet for Inter, who have now not shipped any goals in five games on the spin. Danilo D’Ambrosio has been a key part of that defensive solidity, as he explained to DAZN and Inter TV in a post-match interview.
“The easy things are almost always the hardest. We were up against the basement boys and we came here top of the pile, but that doesn’t count for much. You have to show your ability on the pitch and we knew that. We could’ve put the game to bed earlier. We were angry about not finishing it off in the first half, but that ensured we also dominated in the second half.
“I’m not making comparisons with last year. It’s certainly harder to replicate success. We’re all doing a great job and working hard. Things are different, but we have to keep putting that effort in because it’s a long league season. We have a very attacking set-up and we’re able to be compact as a unit.”
“[Denzel] Dumfries played really well tonight. I’ve been here for a long time and, of course, I give advice to younger players like Denzel, who’s joined a huge club with lots of pressure. He deserves credit, as do the others who’ve come in. They’ve settled in well and have been working hard.”
D'Ambrosio also mentioned Christian Eriksen: “He was an exceptional team-mate with wonderful human qualities. What happened really affected us. Now we’ve taken different paths. We’ve spoken and said goodbye, but we’re waiting for him at San Siro because we want to say bye along with the fans.”
