MILAN – Nicola Barella has received even more recognition for his sterling 2021 calendar year in which he helped Inter to the Scudetto crown and Italy to EURO 2020 glory. The midfielder, who has become a key member of the Azzurri set-up, is one of five nominees in contention to be named the Pallone Azzurro 2021, which is awarded to the best male and female Italian footballers over the year. The other nominees are Federico Chiesa, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Lorenzo Insigne and Leonardo Spinazzola.
Barella was a regular starter for Italy throughout the EURO except for the group match against Wales and he clinched a wonderful goal against Belgium which set the team on its way to the semi-finals. You can vote for him on the FIGC website until 30 December.
