The first set of fixtures in the latest international break took place on Thursday evening, with Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Perisic in action for Croatia, while Milan Skriniar represented Slovakia in their qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup.
CROATIA THUMP MALTA: PERISIC STRIKES OPENER
Croatia racked up a convincing 7-1 success over Malta in preparation for the clash with Group H leaders Russia next time out. Ivan Perisic played 54 minutes of the qualifier and made an immediate impact by opening the scoring with six minutes on the clock after Andrej Kramaric provided the assist. Duje Caleta-Car, Mario Pasalic, Luka Modric, Lovro Majer (a brace) and Kramaric himself registered the other six goals.
Brozovic did score an own goal just after the half-hour mark and was substituted at the interval.
