The Argentine was speaking after his double downed Udinese

MILAN – A spark was needed and he was the man to provide it.  After a quiet first half,  Joaquin Correa suddenly turned it on after an hour's play to end the stalemate with Udinese and secure the points for Inter: two goals in eight minutes. Job done.

The Argentine bagged two goals on his full debut for Inter at San Siro having scored two on his first appearance – as a substitute – at Verona. Four goals in 242 minutes, averaging a goal an hour.

Naturally, El Tucu was in good spirits after the final whistle.

“I scored two important goals but we're proud of how we played as a team – we didn't let up for a moment,” he began.

“It was a tricky game because Udinese don't leave many gaps. For the first goal I found the space that had been harder to come by in the first half and managed to do what I wanted to do. I was delighted my goal gave us the lead, then the second one gave us a cushion."

Correa was making his first appearance since shaking off a few injury niggles but explained he's fit and firing again - and realising his dream of scoring at the Meazza.

“I had a few problems after coming back from international duty and wasn't 100%. I'm getting back there now and I want to do everything I can to help this team.

“I always try to do my best and sometimes I'm able to to better than other times. I'm glad I was able to do something to help the team. We all want what's best for Inter.

“It's really special for me to play and score in this stadium – something I always dreamed of. To do it today with all my family here watching just made it all the more special."

The Nerazzurri's next Serie A match is the Milan derby next weekend but Correa is not thinking that far ahead.

“First we need to focus on the Champions League. After that, we'll turn our attentions to the derby – a very important match for our fans.”
