After beating Empoli in midweek, Inter host Udinese at the San Siro on Sunday for a lunchtime kick-off (12:30 CET), with Simone Inzaghi back in the dugout after completing his touchline ban.

After the first ten games, Inter sit in third place with 21 points obtained from six wins, three draws and a defeat. They have scored 26 goals (the league's best attack) and conceded 12.

Luca Gotti's side meanwhile have drawn their last four matches (three of them 1-1), sharing the spoils with Hellas Verona in midweek. They have 11 points, having won two, drawn five and lost three of their ten opening fixtures.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS

Sunday's match will be the 97th Serie A meeting between Inter and Udinese. The Nerazzurri have emerged victorious on 48 occasions, Udinese 21, and there have been 27 draws. Inter have beaten Udinese ten times since 2015.

The record at San Siro reads 27 Inter wins and ten for Udinese. Traditionally the Friulians have been rather prolific at the Meazza, notching 52 goals in 48 trips – a club record for away games.

This will be the fifth time Inter and Udinese have faced off in the early 12:30 kick-off, having each won two of the previous four.

TEAM STATS 

Inter have scored in each of their last 24 home games in Serie A – their longest such scoring run since netting in 25 back-to-back league fixtures in 2017.

Only Genoa (eight) have scored more goals than Inter (seven) from crosses in the current campaign. However, Udinese – along with Torino – are one of just two sides yet to concede any goals from crosses this term.

The Nerazzurri have had 12 different names on the score sheet in 2021/22 Serie A, including four defenders (Matteo Darmian, Milan Skriniar, Federico Dimarco and Danilo D'Ambrosio) – only  Chelsea (six) have had more in the top five European leagues.

Inter have scored more headed goals this season (eight) than any other team in the top five European leagues. However, only Napoli (none) have conceded fewer headed goals than Udinese (one) in Serie A.

Inzaghi's team have scored the most substitute goals this term: six, with three by Edin Dzeko, two by Joaquin Correa and one by Arturo Vidal.

Udinese's subs have found the net on four occasions: two by Gerard Deulofeu, one by Lazar Samardzic and one by Fernando Forestieri.

PLAYER FOCUS

Samir Handanovic made his Serie A debut with Udinese in 2004/05. Since then, he has kept 182 clean sheets – more than any other goalkeeper in the same period.

Alexis Sanchez made his first 95 Serie A appearances during a successful spell at Udinese in which he scored 20 goals. The Chilean provided an assist against Empoli last time out and hasn't had a hand in two goals in consecutive league matches since March.

Stefan de Vrij's next Serie A appearance will be his 200th in a Nerazzurri jersey. That would make him the second Dutchman to reach a double century for Inter in the Italian top flight (since three points for a win were introduced) after Clarence Seedorf, who totalled 396.

Daniele Padelli, now at Udinese, made four Serie A appearances for Inter during his four-year stay at the club.
