EMPOLI - When Federico Dimarco pulls on the Inter shirt, he never fails to remember when he was just like any other fan, in the stands cheering on Inter. That’s why it’s just a big deal for him when he manages to find the net for his boyhood club. He found his second of the season against Empoli, a tidy left-footed finish to seal the match. Dimarco was close to doubling his tally for the evening as well, noting after the game: “I nearly got a second, I wish it had gone in. I’m really grateful to Lautaro Martinez for his wonderful assist."
Representing the Nerazzurri never ceases to be a joy for Dimarco: "Inter means the world to me, it’s been my home since my days in the youth team. This is why it’s so special to get so much recognition and love from the fans. I’ve poured my heart and soul into getting where I’ve got to."
Coming away from the Castellani stands Inter in good stead: "We battled away against a top team, who’ve beaten Juventus away from home this season. It was good to have seen out the game in the second half and have sealed the three points. We were still smarting from drawing against Juventus."
