APPIANO GENTILE – After the Champions League win against Sheriff Tiraspol, Inter’s next game is the Derby d'Italia match against Juventus on Sunday at the San Siro. Denzel Dumfries spoke to SportMediaset about the run-up to the match and how his first months as an Inter player have gone.
“The Champions League win was enormously important because it came after the loss to Lazio. There was a positive reaction that has put us back on the right track. This is what we have to do and the path we have to follow.
“Obviously, here in Italy everything is different for me: the language – I am taking lessons and learning – the football, the systems that we use. But I do my best every day to learn as much as possible. My team-mates help me out: [Stefan] De Vrij translates for me, and everyone from the coach down helps me to fit in.
“I get on well with [Simone] Inzaghi. He has his ideas on football, he is very attack-minded and passes this on to us in a very clear and direct way. Do I feel the pressure? No, I believe in myself, and the work I do every day. This is my moment.”
It will be the first Inter v Juventus match for Dumfries. “It is a classic between the two most important teams in Italian football. We can’t wait to play.”
