KYIV – The Matchday 2 clash in Group D in the UEFA Champions League between Shakhtar Donetsk and Inter ended all square. Inter boss Simone Inzaghi gave his view after the encounter.
“We were up against a side that is in form, plays good football and had plenty of possession. At some points, they passed the ball around very well, but we were guilty of not making the most of our chances. We hit the bar and their goalkeeper have two top saves. We had five clear-cut chances on an evening that wasn’t brilliant. We could’ve won.”
When asked if he could expect more from his forwards, the boss replied, “They had a great game and made sacrifices. I then sent on [Joaquin] Correa and [Alexis] Sanchez, who are still working their way back to full fitness. The games are coming thick and fast, and this was a tough away game soon after a tough match against Atalanta.
“We did well to get a point against a decent side,” he concluded. “Of course, we have the home game against them to come in November, but they’re an unpredictable side that will create problems for their opponents. Based on how much we created, we should’ve scored tonight.”
