Seven Inter players were involved in five World Cup qualifying matches on Wednesday night – with all five ending in draws.
DZEKO ON TARGET FOR BOSNIA AGAINST FRANCE After scoring on his Inter debut against Genoa recently, Edin Dzeko found the net again for Bosnia Herzegovina against France. The striker gave his side the lead in the first half but Antoine Griezmann levelled before the break as the game ended 1-1.
CALHANOGLU'S TURKEY PEGGED BACK BY MONTENEGRO In Istanbul, goals by Cengiz Under and Yusuf Yazici gave Turkey a two-goal advantage against Montenegro but Adam Marusic pulled one back for the visitors before Risto Radunovic found a 97th-minute equaliser to stun the hosts. Hakan Calhanoglu played the full match.
90 MINUTES FOR SKRINIAR Milan Skriniar's Slovakia were also on the wrong end of a comeback in Slovenia. Robert Bozeník headed the Slovaks in front only for Peter Stojanovic to level matters before the interval. The Nerazzurri defender played 90 minutes.
BROZOVIC AND PERISIC START IN GOALLESS DRAW IN RUSSIA In the same group, Russia and Croatia played out a goalless stalemate in Moscow – a result which keeps the sides paired together at the top of the group on seven points. Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Perisic played 90 and 75 minutes, respectively.
DE VRIJ AND DUMFRIES FEATURE IN NORWAY DRAW Dutch duo Stefan de Vrij and Denzel Dumfries were also involved in a draw as Norway v Netherlands ended one-all. Erling Haaland struck the opener for the home side then Davy Klaassen levelled. De Vrij started and finished the match while Dumfries came on as a late substitute.
