MILAN - Javier Zanetti believes Inter have what it takes to get out of Champions League Group D, which includes Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk and Sheriff Tiraspol.
Speaking after Thursday's group-stage draw in Istanbul, the vice-president commented: “The Champions League is a prestigious competition and we'll be up against the likes of Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk again – like last year – as well as Champions League newcomers Sheriff. We'll prepare for every match as best we possibly can without underestimating anyone.
“Real Madrid have a long, successful history in the competition and they won't be easy but as always we'll give it our very best.
“We know all about [Roberto] De Zerbi and the splendid job he did at Sassuolo. His teams play very good football so Shakhtar Donetsk are sure to be tricky. Having said that, there are no easy games in the Champions League and you have to prepare for every game leaving no stone unturned.
“We're very excited about playing in this competition and of course we want to reach the knockout stage as we didn't manage it the last two years. Hopefully we will this time around and then we'll see what happens afterwards.”
