MILAN - It was Milan Skriniar's goal six minutes into the game that opened the Nerazzurri's account for the season with a powerful header from Hakan Calhanoglu's corner. And the Slovakian defender was instrumental throughout the game, almost scoring a second and saving one at the other end with an incredible recovery on the goal line.
"I'm happy to have scored today, although what always matters most is the team's result. It was important to get off to a good start and we put in a great performance. Winning and keeping a clean sheet is always nice," he told Inter TV and DAZN.
"We have to go into every game with this attitude, to always play at our best and not leave any space for our opponents. We're still learning the way coach Inzaghi wants to play. We've worked hard over the summer to be ready and now we'll start thinking about Friday's game. Many teams come here and play defensively, but if you're proactive and grab an early goal you can find a way to hurt your opponents."
"Winning the Scudetto has given us certainty but also responsibility: we are still strong and we will fight to defend the title. We can still do well and we must remain united, just like today."
