— Aug 21st 2021The Turkish playmaker shares his thoughts after producing a goal and an assist as Inter won 4-0 on his debut
MILAN - It took him all of 14 minutes to win over Inter. 14 minutes for Hakan Calhanoglu to introduce himself to the Nerazzurri faithful in the best way possible: first curling in the corner for Milan Skriniar to open the scoring, and then firing in a brilliant goal of his own to make it 2-0.
He didn’t stop there. He had another goal disallowed and churned out pass after delightful pass as Inter went on to triumph 4-0. No wonder the stadium rose to applaud him when he left the field late on.
After the match, the Turk spoke to DAZN about the perfect start to life in a Nerazzurri jersey.
“I was calm,” he said. “I know the fans expect good things and we’ve been training for 45 days to get ready for this match. We’ve worked hard and well. We made a really strong start and deservedly won it.
“I want to thank the fans because I could really feel their support. I want to give everything for Inter. I know [Simone] Inzaghi expects a few goals from me. We’ll do everything we can to make the fans happy.
“We have a great group of lads here and it’s easy to play with top-quality footballers whose movement is so good. We enjoyed ourselves out there today. It was a great performance and we want to carry on like this.”
