PARMA – Matias Vecino scored Inter’s second goal in their friendly against Parma, producing a headed finish after a well-timed run. The contest comes two weeks before the Serie A season kicks off for the Nerazzurri against Genoa. The midfielder shared his thoughts with Inter TV after the friendly.
Yet another win for this Inter side that never gives up, even in matches like this.
It is important to get minutes in our legs to make the best possible start to the season. Generally speaking, we played a good game – obviously we need to build towards 100% fitness but we are on the right path.
It was clear you wanted to get on the score-sheet.
I always try to get into the box, get involved in moves and make runs. I'm happy with the goal.
You’ve got the final friendly in a few days – how much do you want to be back on the pitch?
It's nice to take to the field with the Scudetto badge on our chests. We have a real sense of responsibility and we're very excited – we’re carrying on our preparations so we can perform.
There were more fans there today than the last time we met at the San Siro.
It was great to feel that affection from the fans – it wasn’t nice playing behind closed doors. The fans give you an extra boost.
What goals do you have for this season?
The goal is to build some consistency, which I didn’t quite manage last year. I'm physically and mentally charged.
