APPIANO GENTILE – Simone Inzaghi praised the work his players have done so far in pre-season after Inter beat Crotone 6-0 in their latest warm-up match on Wednesday.
The Nerazzurri netted three goals in each half, with six different scorers at the Suning Training Centre: Martin Satriano, Federico Dimarco and Hakan Calhanoglu before the break, and Andrea Pinamonti, Stefano Sensi and Marcelo Brozovic in the second period.
“I'm happy today because the lads were excellent but they've have been impeccable in training for three weeks now,” the coach began as he spoke to Inter TV after the final whistle.
“It's a shame about the injury problems [Danilo] D'Ambrosio and [Roberto] Gagliardini picked up yesterday but I'm very pleased with the work we've done so far."
Calhanoglu was the star of the show, notching up three assists and a goal to boot – and Inzaghi was quick to acknowledge the Turk's contribution and work rate.
“That's why we signed him. He's been training really well too and he was excellent today – they all were. We dealt with our opponents well and played some good football."
The boss also had a few words of praise for Martin Satriano, who scored yet another pre-season goal.
“He's an interesting young player who works hard. He's earning his playing time with his performances on the training ground.”
Finally, with Serie A now less than a month away, Inzaghi revealed he can't wait to have a full squad to work with.
“[Matias] Vecino and [Ivan] Perisic are with us now and [Nicolo] Barella, [Alessandro] Bastoni and Lautaro [Martinez] will return on Monday, then we'll finally have a full contingent and all be able to work together. It will be good.”
