APPIANO GENTILE – It was another day of hard work at the Suning Training Centre for the Inter squad, which includes Federico Dimarco who is back with the Nerazzurri after a loan spell at Hellas Verona, where he registered five goals in 32 appearances last season.
It is a special time for Dimarco, who is celebrating the birth of his son Nicholas. “I’m thrilled. We couldn’t wait for him to be born. I’m also pleased because both my wife and my son are doing well,” he told Inter TV in an exclusive interview.
The 23-year-old explained that it’s always a special feeling to get to don the Inter jersey: “I came up through the youth ranks here. I’m an Interista and used to go to the stadium to watch games from the age of two. This jersey is certainly different from every other for me.”
Dimarco’s time at Hellas was filled with happy moments, both as a team and also personally: “It wasn’t down to me, it was down to the whole team and the coach for putting so much faith in me. We worked hard on the defensive side of our game. I played at full-back and also as a defensive midfielder. Sometimes you need to play in different positions, so being versatile is not a bad thing.”
The full-back looked ahead to the new season enthusiastically: “We’re working hard to be as prepared as we can for the new season and to make the best possible start. We can’t wait to get going again.”
The final word was on Italy’s Euro 2020 triumph: “I’m so pleased that Italy won the Euros. I think it’s a massive result. I always try to improve myself so that playing for the national team can be a target of mine in the future.”
