MILAN – Inter eSports' Levy "Inter Levy" Frederique is the FIFA21 Xbox champion of Europe after triumphing in the regional 2021 FIFA Global Series Playoffs last weekend.
The result means Levy will take his place in the FIFA eWorld Cup finals, when he'll go up against the best players from across the planet for the right to be crowned world champion.
To take part in the regional Playoffs, players must first earn points though a series of qualification stages. Our man Levy achieved some good results over the course of the season but did not go into the tournament as one of the favourites after qualifying in 32nd place. However, being an outsider clearly worked in his favour!
The Dutch gamer kicked off the FIFA Global Series with the Swiss Rounds on Friday 2 July, needing to win at least three of his five matches to reach the knockout rounds. He progressed with three wins and two defeats, before going on to win all of his knockout matches in Saturday. He then triumphed on penalties in the semi-finals before snatching victory in the final with a last-gasp goal at the end of extra time.
Levy will now start preparing for the FIFA eWorld Cup finals, to be held in London from 6 to 8 August.
