Giuseppe Marotta has today received a Golden Lion award for professional merit.
The FC Internazionale Milano CEO Sport was handed the prestigious prize – a symbol of the renowned Venice Film Festival - at the Veneto Region headquarters in Venice, in the presence of honorary president and Golden Lion for Peace Mario Baccini and the president of the Golden Lion Order Committee Sileno Candelaresi.
The Golden Lion for Sport was set up in 2019 under the patronage of CONI and the Paralympic Committee.
“Venice is a city that means a lot to me,” Marotta said as he collected his prize. “I had some great times here, especially when we won promotion to Serie A in 1997/98.
“I'm extremely proud to receive this award. I think it is recognition for my commitment to football generally, regardless of my work in management. My job is not just to manage star players; there is an educational and social side to it too. More and more boys and girls are interested in football and the sport offers a huge opportunity for education. Football is a social phenomenon and this prize gives me added motivation for the future – to keep working to bring joy to as many people as possible.”
