"I've always thought about it, I've always believed in it, I’ve spent so many years here but the satisfaction is enormous and it helps repay everything I've experienced in these 10 years". Andrea Ranocchia and the Scudetto, Andrea Ranocchia and Inter, a story that has lasted since 2011 and will continue until 2022.
The news of his contract renewal for another season in the Nerazzurri is fresh and the joy of the tricolour lifted just over a month ago is still alive.
From his debut against Genoa in the Coppa Italia in 2011 to a season that is almost ready to start up again, Andrea Ranocchia has once again committed his career to Inter, as he relives his ten years spent here in an end-of-season chat, recorded exclusively by Inter TV in the days following the Nerazzurri Scudetto.
Andrea and Inter’s stories crossed paths in January 2011 when he arrived at the team of the world champions: A good run in the league would result in a second place finish and with the conquest of the Coppa Italia, Ranocchia’s first trophy, as Inter beat Palermo 3-1 in Rome, with Andrea playing as a starter.
It wasn’t all joyous, there were also more complicated moments, with the loan spell at Sampdoria first and then at Hull City: "In England it was my rebirth as a footballer: I needed to disconnect from Italy, I enjoyed it, I did well. I took away my satisfactions, I found myself and came back different and improved. I changed my way of approaching football and all situations, I had more awareness”.
His goal against Benevento in 2018 was a pivotal moment in definitively re-tying the knot: "I had more experience, authority: I’ve always tried to bring positivity into the team group". The 2-3 at the Olimpico against Lazio was an essential emotion to return to "breathe some fresh air”.
And then the Scudetto: "The crowning glory for a special group". A season in which Andrea was impeccable every time he was called into question: "I’m always the same and the motivation is always there. This is the way to ensure that championships are won: I was willing to make this mental transition, to make myself available to the team".
This is Andrea Ranocchia, 216 games and 13 goals in the Inter jersey. Ready, and waiting, for the new season.
