A pass: it can be to the side, go forwards, be long or short, come from out wide or from deep. A pass can do many things, including relieving pressure, starting a move or opening up space that a teammate can take advantage of. And when a defence fails to read a certain ball, a goal can result.
During the season just gone, one which saw Inter win their 19th Scudetto title, the Nerazzurri scored 101 goals. The man who provided the most assists was Romelu Lukaku, who became the first player to net at least 20 goals and set up a teammate to score on at least ten occasions in a single Serie A season since 2004 onwards. In all competitions, the Belgian found the net 30 times and registered eleven assists. Next on the assist podium are Nicolò Barella, who probably registered the best one of the campaign with his back-heel flick for Lautaro against Real Madrid, and Achraf Hakimi.
Indeed, the Italian provided ten and Hakimi nine, while Brozovic and Lautaro both registered seven. Meanwhile, Sanchez, who was always ready to shake things up even during his substitute appearances, assisted five goals with inspired pieces of play in the final third.
We’ve put together a compilation of our best assists during the campaign just gone. Of course, Alessandro Bastoni’s sensational ball forward for Nicolò Barella during Inter vs. Juventus is included.
