MILAN - Roberto Gagliardini today scored Inter’s first goal since securing the title. After their 19th Scudetto was wrapped up last week, the central midfielder opened the scoring for Inter in a 5-1 victory over Sampdoria: “I’m pleased, even if I didn’t manage to see out the whole 90 minutes due to a slight injury that I’ve been carrying for a few weeks”, he told Inter TV.
“The magnitude of what we’ve done is clear for all to see. The only dampener is that we cannot share these feelings that we have with our fans, owing to the difficult situation that we're all currently going through. These, though, are still unique moments and we'll try to enjoy them as much as possible.”
What game was the turning point this season? The Inter No. 5 responded: “There have been so many important games; definitely, amongst so many others, the away game at Sassuolo, where I managed to grab a goal, was crucial. That helped to change our attitude a bit, and then the victories over Juventus and AC Milan were also fundamental for our objective.”
