— May 2nd 2021CEO Corporate Alessandro Antonello speaks on the day of the Scudetto
Inter are champions of Italy. It's the phrase we've been waiting for and we are repeating it today because it's the day we secured our 19th Serie A title. From Inter HQ, CEO Corporate Alessandro Antonello had this to say on an important title.
Alessandro Antonello, a life-long Interista, this is your first title as Inter CEO. What emotions are you experiencing?
It's a unique emotion. As an Inter and Inter CEO, being on the inside for this is really special. I have to thank Antonio Conte, the boys that have worked so so hard this season to take this title, all those at the Club that have supported us behind the scenes, as well as our partners and sponsors, who have supported us throughout the years and especially in this tricky period. Thanks also to our fans, who unfortunately haven't been able to be at San Siro to support us but who have always shown their love for the team and for the Club. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
A win that comes after a few seasons of constant growth...
Yes, this project began five years ago now thanks to the Zhang family, who have helped us during this process of growth. It's an achievement after some hard work planning, with the last effort the boys made this year under difficult conditions without our fans in the stadium, so it deserves even greater applause.
This has been a complicated and different season, does winning the title this season mean something a little different?
Definitely, because winning the league under normal circumstances is already hard enough. Winning it under these conditions - with the pandemic that has created and is creating plenty of problems from an economic standpoint too, and with the effects that are still ongoing - makes us even prouder of this achievement. Speaking of that, I have to thank the health workers, doctors, nurses and volunteers, who, throughout the past year, have helped all those that have suffered and that are still suffering now in order to get out of this pandemic as quickly as possible. This Scudetto has to be dedicated to them too.
