— May 2nd 2021All you need to know following the win over Crotone
Our points tally is 82, ahead of Atalanta by 14 points, for the moment. A loss or a draw from the Bergamo team at Sassuolo today (15:00 CEST) could hand Inter the title. This is the situation in the standings for the Nerazzurri, who return from a 2-0 victory at Crotone thanks to goals from Eriksen and Hakimi. The wonderful second half of the season continues for Conte's team, who have recorded 13 wins and two draws in 15 matchdays.
The 82 points in the standings equal the Nerazzurri's tally from last season: a feat achieved this year with four rounds still to be played. In 2019/20, 82 points could only earn a second-place finish, one point behind Juventus.
To tell the exhilarating journey of Conte's team, here is another fact: The 14th clean sheet of the season came in the match against Crotone, as many as anyone in the whole of Serie A last season.
In the match at the Ezio Scida, the first half was characterised by a situation typical for the Nerazzurri of late: hitting the woodwork! Two times, with Lukaku and Lautaro. Inter hit the woodwork ten times in seven matches in the month of April, at least six more than any other team in the same timeframe. This has happened a total of 18 times in the league this season, only fewer than AC Milan and Hellas (20).
The win came about thanks to goals from Eriksen (his third goal in Serie A) and Achraf Hakimi, who scored his seventh goal of the season. Added to his six assists, it brings the Moroccan to 13 goal involvements, only behind Robin Gosens in the top five European leagues.
LUKAKU: AT LEAST 20 GOALS AND 10 ASSISTS, THERE'S NO ONE LIKE HIM!
Even when Romelu Lukaku does not score (his last goal was against Bologna; he had a goal ruled out against Crotone), he is still useful for his teammates. His assist was decisive to set up Christian Eriksen. Lukaku is the first player to record at least 20 goals and at least ten assists in a Serie A season since 2004/2005. He is also the first foreign Inter player to reach ten assists in a single Serie A season since Maicon (11 in 2009/10).
