The Nerazzurri are in action on Saturday at 18:00 CEST: the facts and stats on the game at the Stadio Ezio Scida

MILAN – After the win at San Siro against Hellas Verona, Inter are heading to the Stadio Ezio Scida to take on Crotone on Saturday 1 May at 18:00 CEST in a clash on matchday 34 in Serie A. The Nerazzurri are top of the league on 79 points (11 more than Atalanta) and take on Serse Cosmi’s side, who go into this one after a win over Parma, but with just 18 points taken after 33 matches.

HEAD-TO-HEAD BETWEEN INTER AND CROTONE

The two sides have met five times in Serie A. The record reads three wins for Inter, one draw and one defeat. The very first time the two teams met was in November 2016, when the Nerazzurri won 3-0 at San Siro. In the same season, Crotone won 2-1 in the reverse fixture. The following two meetings came in the following season, with the Nerazzurri winning 2-0 away (Skriniar and Perisic) and a 1-1 at San Siro. The most recent clash was the resounding 6-2 victory earlier this season, with a hattrick from Lautaro Martinez and goals from Lukaku and Hakimi. In these five games, Inter have scored a total of 13 goals (2-6 per game).

CURRENT FORM AND STATS

Last time out, Inter beat Hellas Verona at the Meazza and moved to 79 points in the table. Conte’s side are unbeaten in 17 Serie A matches, their longest run without defeat in the competition since February 2008. The Nerazzurri have registered more clean sheets in 2021 than any team in Serie A (10) – only Chelsea (11) have gone more games without conceding in that period. This matchup pits the team that has taken the joint-most points from losing positions (16, level with Sassuolo) against the only side in the division that hasn’t taken a single point after being behind in a game (Crotone).

After six defeats on the spin, Crotone won their last game against Parma; the Squali could win two consecutive Serie A matches for the first time since April 2018. Cosmi’s side are the only team to have not drawn a single game in 2021 in Serie A: three wins and 16 defeats for the Calabrians in that time.

PLAYER FOCUS

Two Inter players are currently in the top-10 in the Serie A goalscoring charts. Lukaku is in second place with 21 goals (5 penalties), while Lautaro is on 15 (no penalties). The two were key figures in the reverse fixture against Crotone, with the Belgian scoring one and the Argentine bagging a hattrick. Two behind Lukaku in terms of Serie A goals this season is Simy; the Nigerian is on 19 goals and could become the first African player to score 20 in Serie A since Samuel Eto’o in 2010/11 (21 in an Inter shirt). Since Cosmi’s arrival, Simy has scored 12 goals in nine Serie A games (1.3 per game).
