MILAN - Attilio Sorbi’s Nerazzurre defeated Fiorentina 2-0 during the first leg of their Coppa Italia TIMVISION quarter-final on Saturday. After the game, two of the Inter players gave their verdict on the win.
Regina Baresi said the following: “Today’s win was vital,” said the Nerazzurre captain. “We had plenty of desire and this helped us a lot. We put in a true team performance and the win was a result of the performance and the attitude that we all had out on the pitch.
“We wanted to make up for the last match. We came out hungrier and more determined to prove ourselves. We all gave 100 per cent, whether it be those who started or those who came on later in the match. It was this that made the difference.”
Astrid Gilardi also spoke to Inter TV about the joy she felt after making her first first-team appearance in the top tier: “I’m really happy with my performance,” said the young goalkeeper. “But also that of the entire team because we helped each other out on the pitch. You can see that from the result.
“I was a bit nervous at the start because it was my first match, but my teammates calmed me down and it all vanished as soon as I got out on the pitch.”
