The Dutch defender's thoughts after the 2-1 win in the Coppa Italia Derby

MILAN - As usual, he was a rock in the heart of the Inter backline. He also made an impact going forward late on too. Stefan de Vrij really gave it everything, as he always does. After the game, in an interview with Rai, he revealed a secret in the lead-up to Inter’s winner: “When I saw it was a free kick, I went up to Eriksen and said, ‘this is your moment, this is the right moment.’ I’m really happy for him; we know the quality he has and what a wand that foot is!”

On the developments of the game: “We’re happy with the result and the performance. We deserved this because, even after we went behind, we created a lot of chances. We knew that AC Milan would be tough opponents but we’re strong; we're proving this and are confident for the rest of the season. We played well and really deserved to win.

“Winning in the Derby is always massive, more so today because it was a knockout game. We’re happy for the fans and for the Club. These wins over AC Milan and Juventus are really important; we’re fighting on two fronts and are always ready.”
