ROME – Following his goal at the Bentegodi, Milan Skriniar scored his second of the season at the Olimpico today with another towering header from a Marcelo Brozovic corner. Inter thus continued a trend of scoring from dead-ball situations (nine headed goals, more than any other side; eight goals from corners, also the most in Serie A up to this point). Skriniar has now found the net six times in the Italian top flight, with four of these having been headed finishes.
However, the Slovakian’s goal today didn’t contribute to three Nerazzurri points thanks to Roma’s late equaliser. After the match, he spoke to DAZN and Inter TV: “I’m happy that I scored, but I’m obviously not pleased with the result: we didn’t manage to pick up three points despite the fact we played well and created many chances. Roma are an organised side, it’s not easy to come to the Olimpico and play like we did. We need to take the positives and analyse the mistakes we made as we look to improve.
“At the start of the second half, we took to the pitch with the attitude we had because we were behind even though we’d played well in the opening 45. We put them under even more pressure. I feel like I have the Coach’s confidence and I’m trying to repay him with good performances.”
Skriniar then talked about his celebration: “The kiss was for my daughter and my girlfriend. When I scored, I ran over to Professor Pintus because, prior to today’s match, I told him that I’d find the net.”
