MILAN – Inter recorded their eighth consecutive league victory yesterday. In collaboration with Opta, here are all the stats that you need to know.
EIGHT VICTORIES IN A ROW AND NERAZZURRI GOALS
After 15 matchdays, Inter have picked up 36 points, 24 of which have been collected in their last eight fixtures. The last time the Nerazzurri won eight Serie A fixtures in a row was in December 2008.
Inter currently have the best attack in the Italian top flight having scored 40 times, an average of 2.7 per game. The last time that the Nerazzurri netted at least 40 times in their opening 15 Serie A fixtures was in 1950/51 (45 back then).
For the fifth consecutive fixture, Inter emerged victorious thanks to their second-half performance: following on from their matches against Cagliari, Napoli, Spezia and Verona, Conte’s men once again picked up three points after getting the better of their opponents after the restart. After 15 matchdays, Inter have added 16 points to their tally in the second half of matches.
LAUTARO, HIS FIRST NERAZZURRI HAT-TRICK
Lautaro Martinez scored his first Serie A hat-trick against Crotone. It was the perfect one too, with the Argentine scoring with his right, left and head. The last Inter player to achieve this in the Italian top flight was Icardi against Atalanta in March 2017.
Prior to yesterday’s fixture, the last time that Lautaro Martinez had found the net in the opening 20 minutes of a Serie A match was in January 2020 against Atalanta.
Before yesterday’s showdown, Lautaro Martinez hadn’t scored more than once in a single Serie A match since he did so against SPAL in December 2019. He’s now done this three times in Italy’s top division.
In January 1999, another non-Italian player scored a hat-trick in Inter’s first match of the year. This was Ivan Zamorano, who achieved this feat in another 6-2 Nerazzurri victory (against Venezia).
LUKAKU’S 50TH NERAZZURRI GOAL
Romalu Lukaku has now found the net 50 times for Inter in 70 appearances.
Three of Lukaku's five assists in Serie A have led to goals for Lautaro Martinez, including the last two times when the Belgian has set up a teammate to score.
Lukaku has netted 35 goals in 50 Serie A fixtures. Since the three-points-per-win era began, only five players have managed to score more than the Inter striker in their first 50 games in the Italian top flight: Cristiano Ronaldo (40), Ronaldo (38), Andriy Shevchenko (37), Diego Milito (37) and Vincenzo Montella (36).
Romelu Lukaku has been involved in 59 goals (50 goals and nine assists) in his first 70 Inter matches in all competitions.
