Teams will now be able to make five substitutions at a maximum of three separate times in the game. Changes made at half-time, between regulation time and extra time, or in the half-time break of extra time are not included in these three slots. An additional substitution will be allowed in extra time.
Furthermore, teams will be allowed to have bigger squads, with each side now permitted to name 23 players in a matchday squad, opposed to the 18 allowed in the past (with 23 only ever allowed for the final).
