MILAN - Quick, strong, unstoppable. Achraf Hakimi certainly left his mark on Inter’s win over Bologna. He scored a beautiful brace with that wand of a left foot. The Moroccan moves to three goals scored in Serie A so far this season and is the only defender in the league to have both scored two and provided two assists. More impressively, Hakimi is the youngest defender in Europe’s Top-5 leagues to have bagged a two-goal haul in 2020/21.
After his first goal, Achraf Hakimi displayed a special shirt under his Inter kit. It was an homage, dedicated to Moroccan footballer Mohamed Abarhoun, who tragically passed away at 31 years of age.
After the final whistle, Hakimi gave an account of his performance. “A lot is said, but I’m always the same. I try to work hard, to improve and to integrate into the squad. The coach is helping me a lot and he tells me what he wants from me, the runs I should make. I’m improving bit by bit to give my all for this team. When I have a bit of space, I can use my pace and be even more useful for the team.”
“I’m learning Italian, which is similar to Spanish. I’m adjusting to life in the city and to the league. It’s getting better and better.”
