Inter Stats | Lukaku’s goals and Nerazzurri comebacks
Team
— Nov 23rd 2020The stats after Inter’s victory over Torino: Sanchez scores and assists
MILAN - The 4-2 win against Torino on matchday 8 in Serie A took Antonio Conte’s side to 15 points in the league. It was a victory that developed in the second half after the Granata put themselves two goals to the good before the break. Sanchez, Lukaku and Lautaro all left their mark on this marvellous comeback.
LUKAKU, 30 GOALS IN SERIE A
It was a vital brace - his eighth in the top flight of Italian football. Romelu Lukaku confirmed himself to be one of Inter’s key players with his keen eye for goal. In this season alone, he has scored seven times, helping the Nerazzurri to win nine of their fifteen points.
In total, Romelu Lukaku has now scored 30 goals in Serie A in 43 appearances. In the three-points-per-win era, only two Nerazzurri players have reached this mark as quickly: Ronaldo in 41 games, Vieri in 43.
Lukaku’s continued precision in front of goal has been seen throughout the calendar year of 2020. Only Robert Lewandowski (38), Cristiano Ronaldo (33) and Erling Haaland (31) have scored more than Lukaku in one of Europe’s Top-5 leagues since the start of 2020 to now.
THE NERAZZURRI’S OFFENCE IS RUNNING SMOOTHLY
Four more goals in a single game, emulating the four against Fiorentina and the five against Benevento. Inter, along with Sassuolo, currently have the best attack in Serie A with 20 goals scored in just eight games. It’s the first time since 1997/98 that Inter have achieved such a feat.
A truly curious stat came to light against Torino. The Nerazzurri didn’t manage to have a single shot on target until the 60th minute. Then, as they were 2-0 down, Inter scored with their first two shots on target, in the 64th and 67th minutes. Yet, something that is even more worthy of a mention, the Nerazzurri scored four goals from four shots on target.
NERAZZURRI COMEBACKS
Inter have taken more points (7) from losing positions than any other team in Serie A this season, while Torino have dropped the most points (14) from winning positions - the most of any side in Europe’s Top-5 leagues.
Inter have picked up a total of 26 points from losing positions over the last two season: only Atalanta and Lazio have more in the same period. /p>
SANCHEZ, FIRST GOAL OF THE SEASON
Against Torino, Alexis Sanchez scored his first goal of the season and provided an assist. The Chilean’s last goal came on 25 July against Genoa at Marassi. Sanchez is the eighth Inter player to get on the scoresheet in the league so far this season. Torino are a favourite opponent of Alexis’: he has now had a hand in four goals (one goal, three assists) in his last two Serie A games against the Granata.
The Chilean has, in fact, now put five goals past Salvatore Sirigu; the previous four were all in a single game - Palermo 0-7 Udinese on 27 February 2011.
