APPIANO GENTILE – The 2020 international break has come to an end and Inter are ready to take on their huge schedule of ten matches in 31 days. “At the moment, we are facing a season that’s very different from the rest, but the situation is as it is and we cannot have it any other way,” Andrea Ranocchia explained to Mediaset. “We started the season well in regards to our performances, but we haven’t been able to show this in terms of points. Certainly, we have picked up less points than we deserve. We play, we create a lot of chances, but it just so happens that every time we score, we make a mistake. It’s just a stage we’re going through and it will pass; we are continuing to work hard to win again and build an important path.”
“Our Coach is always willing and determined, he expects a lot from us and we respond by giving everything we have. Criticism is a part of this world and we must not let it affect us. We must have our goals in mind, and move forward.” Regarding the rumours about his possible departure from the team, the Nerazzurri defender went on to clarify: “I am very happy to have stayed here, the idea of giving up this shirt never entered into my mind. I am giving my all to be ready for when I am called up to play for this team. When I wear these colours, it comes naturally to give my absolute best in every moment, on and off the pitch. I hope to achieve important goals in these colours.”
Wrapping up the interview, Ranocchia also commented on the two upcoming home games against Torino (Serie A) and Real Madrid (UEFA Champions League): “Sunday’s match is a very important one, we want to win and we need points. The same goes for Real Madrid. When playing in Spain, we showed how good we can be. A team like Inter must always aim for the maximum, the work we’re doing with the Coach is extraordinary, we are raising the bar and now we have to move forward along this path.”
