MILAN – It was an Italian night, with the numerous commitments of the various South American National teams sprinkled with Nerazzurri appearances during the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers. Three Inter players took to the pitch: Sanchez and Vidal with Chile and Lautaro Martinez with Argentina.
LAUTARO, A GOAL AND A VICTORY
At the Estadio Nacional de Peru in Lima, Lautaro Martinez scored his eleventh goal in 21 appearances for Argentina. Scaloni's team won 2-0 away with two goals coming in the first half: Nicolas Gonzalez scored in the 17th minute. Then, in the 28th minute, Lautaro doubled the advantage, slotting the ball past the keeper following an assist from Paredes. El 'Toro' remained on the pitch until the 89th minute before being replaced by Papu Gomez.
Following this win, Argentina sit on ten points in the group, two points behind a Brazil side who have remained flawless, winning all four of their games so far.

VIDAL SCORES IN VAIN: CHILE DEFEATED
Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal suffered defeat with Chile, with both players playing the full 90 minutes in their clash against Venezuela. At the Estadio Olimpico in la Ciudad Universitaria Caracas, the score finished 2-1 in favour of the ‘Vinotintos': Luis Mago opened the scoring, only for Vidal to find an equaliser with his left foot in the 15th minute following a brilliant ball by Sanchez (Vidal scored his16th goal in World Cup qualifying matches and his 32nd goal overall). In the 81st minute, however, Rondon found the winner for Venezuela. Chile remain on four points.
