MILAN – At the draw in Geneva, which decided the groups for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League, Antonio Conte’s Inter were placed in Group B along with Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk and Borussia Mönchengladbach. Inter vice president Javier Zanetti commented on the team’s coming road: “It’s a really even group, but we’ll play to win it. We need to go into each game knowing the difficulties we’ll face but always with the ambition to get a result. Our first objective is to make it out of the group. We hope to manage that and we’ll see what happens.”
On our opponents: “There’s not just Real Madrid. Borussia Mönchengladbach and Shakhtar Donetsk are good sides and can compete on the same level, so we’ll need to concentrate for each game. In the Champions League, current form counts for a lot and we hope to be on top form for each game.”
Finally, on last year’s European journey that ended with the UEL final against Sevilla: “Reaching the final definitely shows that we’re on the right track. We didn’t lack very much, which means that we have the basis to compete and do well. This needs to be a starting point to improve season after season.”
