MILAN - Ahead of resuming their activities on Monday 7 September at the Suning Training Centre, the Nerazzurri will find out their league schedule tomorrow. At 12:00 CEST on Wednesday 2 September, the 2020/21 Serie A TIMcalendar will be announced.
THE DATES
The league season will get underway on the weekend of Saturday 19 to Sunday 20 September 2020
Midweek fixtures will take place on the following dates/weeks: Wednesday 16 December 2020; Wednesday 23 December 2020; Wednesday 6 January 2021; Wednesday 3 March 2021; Wednesday 21 April 2021; Wednesday 12 May 2021.
Meanwhile, there will be four breaks over the course of the campaign: Sunday 11 October 2020 (international break); Sunday 15 November 2020 (international break); Sunday 27 December 2020 (winter break, league resumption: Sunday 3 January 2021); Sunday 28 March 2021 (international break).
The league will come to an end on the weekend of 22-23 May 2021.
Below are the criteria and conditions that must be met in compiling the 2020/21 Serie A TIM calendar:
In terms of the order of home and away matches, the following criteria needs to be adhered to:a) No more than two consecutive games can be played at home or away during each half of the season;b) In the event that there are two matches in a row at home and/or away in each half of the season, in one case they must be at home, and in the other, they must both be away;c) The following pairs of clubs will alternate between home and away matches: when one is at home, the other will play away. The only exception to this is the Lazio-Roma pairing on the last day of the season*: GENOA-SAMPDORIA INTER-MILAN JUVENTUS-TORINO LAZIO-ROMAd) wherever possible, pitch inavailability and other city/town events of special importance will be taken into account;
The following criteria will be applied in determining individual fixtures:a) The Genoa, Milan, Rome and Turin cross-city fixtures will not take place on either the first or final matchdays, nor will they be played midweek. They will take place on different matchdays to each other. b) With the exception of those fixtures mentioned in a), all the clubs may meet each other on the first or final matchday;c) Compared to the 2019/20 season, repetitions aren't allowed (same match on the same matchday with the same home/away composition);d) Clubs that faced each other on the opening day of the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons won't be able to play each other on matchday one, irrespective of the home/away composition;e) Clubs that faced each other on the final day of the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons won't be able to play each other on matchday 38, irrespective of the home/away composition;f) The clubs taking part in the UEFA Champions League (Atalanta, Inter, Juventus and Lazio) shall not play the clubs involved in the UEFA Europa League (Napoli, Milan and Roma) on matchdays that come between UEFA Europa League and UEFA Champions League fixtures the following week.*With the Stadio Olimpico in Rome not being available from 18 May 2021 ahead of the opening fixture of Euro 2020, Lazio and Roma will be required to play matchday 38 away from home. This means they'll both be at home on matchday 19.
