DÜSSELDORF – Following their win against Bayer Leverkusen, Inter have remained in Germany to prepare for their upcoming semi-final showdown in the Europa League. In an interview with Sky Sport in Düsseldorf, Alessandro Bastoni gave his thoughts following the Nerazzurri’s important quarter-final success: “I slept well following yesterday’s 2-1 victory. It’s really pleasing: reaching a European semi-final is never easy. I’m particularly delighted because it’s my first year playing on this stage and a semi-final fixture is just around the corner. It’s great!
“Personally, I’ve made giant strides forward. I never expected to be starting for Inter and pursuing such important objectives. It brings me great pride to represent these colours, but results are always achieved thanks to the team.
“Godin explained the spirit that exists within this group well. He himself waited for the right moment, respecting his teammates in doing so. I’m happy to have him and all of the others as my teammates: the lessons I learn from them are so precious.
“My experience at Parma allowed me to consistently play alongside the professionals. I’ve always had character and take to the pitch in a calm state of mind. Conte has given me a lot of confidence: he wants us to show character and not be afraid to play. I’m not afraid to do what he’s asking of me.”
Now for a semi-final showdown: “At this point, we’re aiming as high as possible. We need to do what we’ve always done: push until the very end.”
