MILAN - Brought on halfway through the first half to replace Stefan de Vrij, who was forced off with a sprained left knee, Andrea Ranocchia rose to the occasion and put in an excellent performance for the remainder of tonight's clash against Fiorentina. After the final whistle, the Nerazzurri defender caught up with Inter TV: “I’m always looking to make a strong contribution to the team. Today we’ve been left to rue our missed chances. We created a lot, but we just didn’t manage to break the deadlock, even if we tried time and time again. We couldn't get a winner, although we gave Fiorentina very little to work with at the other end. But of course, it’s a real shame we didn’t get the three points."
On the Nerazzurri’s season so far and our position in the Serie A standings: “We still have a long way to go to keep up with Juventus, who are streets ahead on points. We’ve got better, but we’ve still got plenty of room for improvement. The boss is working wonders and he’s looking to cultivate a winning mentality in the squad. We’re looking to raise the bar, and above all, not to get complacent. We’re getting there, but it’s a gradual process. At the minute it’s just not cutting it, and we’ve all got to give a little more."
