Stats and facts after the loss to Bologna

MILAN - The painful defeat to Bologna after almost an hour in which the Nerazzurri were dominant leaves a lot of regret for Inter. Giving you the stats from the match at San Siro isn't simple, but there are at least two noteworthy points pertaining to Inter from matchday 30 in Serie A.

HANDANOVIC CATCHES UP TO FRANCO BARESI

The first fact involves our goalkeeper and captain, Samir Handanovic.  Against Bologna, the Slovene played his 470th game in Serie A. This puts him at 23rd in the all-time appearance list, level with Franco Baresi, on the very weekend that Gianluigi Buffon reached first in the very same category (648). Handanovic is just five appearances away from another mythical name in Italian football, Giacinto Facchetti, who played 475 times in Serie A for Inter. Handanovic has played 284 times for Inter, 182 for Udinese, three for Treviso and once for Lazio in the Italian top flight.

LUKAKU, 20 GOALS IN HIS FIRST SEASON IN SERIE A

With his opener against Bologna, Romelu Lukaku scored Serie A goal number 20 of the season. It's a significant landmark: the Belgian became the fourth Inter player to score at least 20 goals after 30 matchdays in their first season in the Italian top flight, following on from Giuseppe Meazza (1930), Istvan Nyers (1949) and Ronaldo (1998). Lukaku has scored 26 goals in all competitions this season: 20 in Serie A, two in the Coppa Italia, two in the Champions League and two in the Europa League. Lukaku scored three in his first eleven home games but has now made it four out his last five at San Siro.

PENALITIES, RED CARDS AND FIRST TIMES

The defeat to Bologna came even after the away side went down to ten men early in the second half. You have to go back to the 1-0 loss to Napoli in February 2001 to find the last time Inter lost to a team that had a man sent off before the 60th minute.

Inter missed their first penalty in the league this year against Bologna (another spot-kick was missed by Lautaro against Borussia Dortmund). Of the ten penalties scored in Serie A so far this season, there have been four different scorers: Lukaku (6/6), Lautaro (2/3), Esposito (1/1), Sanchez (1/1). It was Lautaro's first miss from the spot in Serie A from four penalties (he converted in the Derby last season, and against Juventus and Sassuolo in this current campaign). Polish shot stopper Lukasz Skorupski was the one to deny Lautaro. This was the fifth penalty the Pole has saved in Serie A. His first was at San Siro too, against AC MIlan in April 2017.

Two youngsters from the Gambia decided the match. Musa Juwara and Musa Barrow's goals turned the game around in the second half at San Siro. Juwara scored his first goal in the top flight of Italian football and, at 18 years and 192 days, became Bologna's youngest goalscorer since Luigi Della Rocca in January 2003. Barrow has found the net in each of his last three games.
