MILAN - Ten minutes into Inter vs. Sampdoria, Romelu Lukaku found the net again at San Siro. It was a great goal after he combined with Eriksen following a Lautaro Martinez backheel. It was the Belgian’s 18th goal of the Serie A season and Lukaku is now the fourth Inter player in the last 30 years to have reached 18 goals in his first Serie A season. Milito did so in 2009-20, Ronaldo in 1997-98 and Ruben Sosa in 1992-93.
The celebration from Lukaku was a symbolic sight as he took the knee with a raised first in a powerful anti-racist gesture. It was a poignant moment as he showed support for the Black Lives Matter movement and a message that echoes the philosophy of our Club with BUU - Brothers Universally United as we continue to oppose all forms of discrimination.
“It was very important to win today because there are only finals left now at the end of the season,” said Lukaku after the game. “Every match will be crucial for us. We need to immediately focus on Wednesday, recover well and get ready because this period won’t be easy for anyone. We’ve worked well physically but we can and must improve further.”
