MILAN – The FIGC have declared the suspension of the women’s Serie A, Serie B, Primavera and Coppa Italia.
This is the official statement from the FIGC:
With regard to the President of the Council of Ministers’ Decree from 9 March 2020, specifically art.1 para. 3 of this statement, according to which “sports events and competitions of any kind, in public or private places, are suspended. The sports facilities may be used behind closed doors only for training sessions of athletes, both professional and non-professional, who are recognised as being of national interest by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) and the respective federations, with a view to their participation in the Olympic Games or national and international events; only sporting events organised by international sporting bodies, inside facilities behind closed doors, or in the open air without the public’s presence, are permitted; in all such cases, sports associations and clubs, through their medical staff, are required to carry out appropriate checks to limit the risk of spreading COVID-19 virus among athletes, coaches, managers and all accompanying people. Given the implementation of the above provisions of the decree until 3 April 2020, and regarding the CU no.179 from 10 March 2020, the following has been announced:
The suspension and postponement to a later date of all matches in the Women’s Football Division (TIMVISION Women’s Serie A, Women’s Serie B, Primavera Women’s Championship, TIMVISION Women’s Coppa Italia) that were originally scheduled throughout the period of the implementation of those measures implemented by the DPCM on 9 March 2020, and in any case until such time as the state’s provisions change.
