TURIN - Inter slipped to defeat on matchday 26 of Serie A, losing 2-0 away to new league leaders Juventus. Antonio Conte said the following after the game: “The match was extremely balanced up until the opening goal, we were in control of the situation and we were the better side at the start of the second half. Ramsey’s goal changed the whole feel to the game. We didn’t do well at bouncing back and reacting after the goal, while Juventus grew in confidence after taking the lead.”
As for the team’s latest position in the league, the Coach gave his view: “The difference between us and Juventus in the league is now made up of just two direct defeats. We’ve done well to keep up so far but we knew that there was a gap. We must stay positive because even losing can help you grow; in experience, quality and character. Results like this must not throw us off, but rather help us understand what is needed to reach the level of our opponents. We have wide margins, we started a journey and we cannot compare ourselves to a structure that has been consolidated over a number of years. You need patience, to keep working hard and look to improve year on year.”
Finally, a word on the difficult situation currently facing the country in light of the Coronavirus emergency: “We’re all human beings, we all have families and it’s normal to have concerns away from football itself. It’s very difficult to pretend that nothing is happening, just as it’s very difficult to manage certain situations in this delicate time. I hope that the most appropriate decisions will be made in order to protect the entire population, there are bodies who are responsible for this and we have faith in them.”
